This is holy ground…
Surrounded by these tiny little cabins. The birdsong washes over me. I am undone.
Thursday I was terrified to come to this writer’s conference. I came up with every excuse why I should not attend. I’m never going to publish a book. I’m not going to like the people. I’m selfish for taking this time away.
But I got in my car and drove and began to speak life and pray, and I promised myself I would try.
That’s when I walked in that door and realized I had found my people. Writers everywhere. Every stage, every age, every walk of life. And they were writing, nothing could keep them from it!
Our speaker and host spoke that first night about Moses and how when he stood before the burning bush that Yahweh told him, “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.” Moses was about to approach something so sacred, so holy…and the utmost respect and honor and humility were required of him - including obedience.
I now believe I came here out of pure obedience to God. He has called me to this Holy Ground so that I might reconnect with Him, hone my craft, and realize that it is He who has given me this gift, not me.
Thank you, Lord, for bringing me back home. I am forever yours,
Carolyn
